Pieter and Ursula de Villiers stay in Opuwo, the capital town of the Kunene Region in north-western Namibia in the south-western part of Africa. It is also home to about 10 000 people of the Himba, Herero, Dhimba (Zemba) and other people groups.

We planted an interdependent charismatic/evangelical church with the purpose of bringing the Good News of salvation to the people of Opuwo, Kaokoland and to the ends of the earth. Pastor Kalusha Safoomundu is now pastoring the church. We are part of The Christian Network. We are missionaries of the Hatfield Christian Church in Pretoria, South Africa.

Pieter is also the national director for Every Home for Christ and together we plan and work to reach our region and the southern parts of Angola with the Gospel of the Kingdom.

In recent years God is leading and using us in training and equipping Christians and leaders from different churches. We do Evangelism and Leadership workshops and provide churches with literature.

The Himba and Herero people living in and around Opuwo are to a large extend unreached. They pray to the ancestors and go to witch doctors. There are no churches in most of the villages around Opuwo. On our regular outreaches we have many times preached to people who have never heard about Jesus or about what He did for them. Many are nomadic and illiterate and discipleship is difficult. God led us to start the Kaokoland Tape Project. We give hand-wind, solar cell Tape Players to key people in villages to help them to hear the Word of God in their own language. We also develop and print literature in the local languages. People are eager to learn to read and also very open to the Gospel. Every time we go on outreach we realize that the harvest is very ripe but the workers are so few. We have started to train a group of full-time outreach members who will be responsible for evangelism, discipleship, leadership development and church planting in our area.

We also believe God wants His body in Opuwo to work in unity and our vision is to work with all the life-giving churches in Opuwo to make a bigger impact on the area.

Pieter is the Mayor of Opuwo town.
